Vehicle Details
Up for auction is a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. It is the Post Coupe Model that has the pop out quarter windows. These do not roll down. Also if you look, when the door is open there is a post coming down to the body. Anyway, the car was bought in Lake Havasu Arizona and transported to NY. The car was not complete and I spent quite a while tracking down the Post Coupe specific items. After a few years, it was time to get to work. The car was set on a rotisserie and braced. The entire car was cleaned and assessed. It was discovered that the floor pans and trunk pan were replaced a while ago and their condition was good enough not to replace them. The metal guy told me it would have been a waste of money.
NO Panels were replaced. Each rear quarter has small pieces of metal cut out. Think less than a playing card. The metal was replaced properly. The car doors, roof, hood, fenders, deck lid etc are original to the car. The trunk lip number matches the VIN and was verified prior to the installation of new weatherstrip. The core support matches the car also. THE FENDER TAG IS AVAILABLE AND CORRECT! The VIN matches and was not removed when the dash metal was removed, straightened and painted (someone mounted a CB to the center of the dash) The 70s were fun I bet.
Body and paint wise the car was done right. Each removable door, fender, deck lid, hood was removed and prepped off the car. Test fit and then painted and reassembled. The car was painted Lime Green because it’s slightly bright. You will never be able to say officer it wasn’t me. The entire underbody from the firewall to the trunk was sanded and had bedliner professionally applied by a local shop on a rotisserie. All holes for bolts, clips etc were painstakingly taped or had bolts in them during spraying and removed to ensure threads were clean. From the firewall forward, the same paint was applied and the engine compartment, core support and headlight areas were prepped and painted.
So what’s included you may ask:
A 440 cubic inch motor that had all parts removed (accessories) The block was fogged and shrink wrapped and opened to get photos. The entire rotating assembly has not been disturbed. Timing chain, heads, lifters etc. The motor ran well and sounded throaty. The plan was to purchase all the 440 Source items to make it a 512 Stroker kit. I’ve done three motors with it and it is a great driver setup. Lots of low end and crazy acceleration with a 440 six pack. The motor does not have an intake. I do have a factory carb (NOT ORIGINAL). You should plan on a rebuild to get the engine you want.
I have the entire K Member setup and bolts. It was completely disassembled, cleaned, blasted and painted black. All the original drum brakes, steering items and steering box are included but not on the K member. I have a nice ROLLING ENGINE / TRANS setup that allows you to place the K member, engine and transmission on it then lower the car down onto the K member so you can professionally set the motor and install the bolts. The torsion bars are included. The radiator thay came with car is included. I highly recommend hot tanking / recoring or installing what you need to keep things cool under the hood.
727 TorqueFlite transmission is included. It came with the car. When I bought the car, no driveline was in it. The motor ran, the tranny I have no idea. My plan was to rebuild it, add stall convertor and shift kit to work with the 512 setup. Plan on rebuilding it
No drive shaft is included. It was missing when I bought it. My plan was to have a local shop that does my transmissions make one that’s appropriate for the chosen setup.
The rear end is a 8 3/4 Mopar setup. All drum brakes. It has been cleaned outside and I have a new pinion seal for it. Obviously it should be gone through and normally I change gear sets to maximize my engine and transmission set up. You should assume it needs gone through. I’ve cleaned it and drained oil.
The entire car will roll. It is sitting on a roller setup I welded up and have used to transport it to bed lining and painting. It has been up a flatbed tow truck and down at each place. The frame comes with the car so you can roll it around your shop or garage while working on it or just moving it. The roller setup is designed so that a lift arm will fit under it so you can raise or lower as needed.
I have proper ubolts, the leaf springs that were on the car and the hangers. I do not have the bushings and I ALWAYS replace the bolts because I had one break once and that’s not happening again.
The front and rear windshields have been set with new gaskets / sealant. The trim has been installed. The rear quarter windows are installed. They were rebuilt with new gaskets, rivets and seals. The door windows and vent frames were disassembled and all
Parts sandblasted and painted and then reassembled with new gaskets, clips etc. the door windows still need to be final adjusted and locked in place. These adjustments matter and make the difference in smooth operation or hitting a bump and rattles. Plan to spend a few hours on each with adjustments. It’s a tedious process but worth it.
The dash was removed, holes from CB fixed, sanded, primed and painted. All parts removed from the dash (speedo, switches, ash trays etc are included but need detailed and reassembled. Original dash pads are included and you can see if they are for you or worth sending out for rebuild or replacing.
As far as the interior, I normally send my cars to a local shop and only use Legendary interior panels, seat covers, headliners etc. their stuff just is perfect and looks amazing. Included are a rear bench seat upper and lower, front buckets seats with headrests from a 1969 B body. SEATS NEED REUPHOLSTERED. I have headliner bows and clips. I have armrests and bases. NO DOOR PANELS included. A new package tray is included. The over the door post coupe headliner / interior moldings are included (took 2 years to find those!) Radio antenna included. A used heater box is included. It is rebuildable. A new carpet kit is included. The steering column is included as it was in the car. Has a small steering wheel that is not original but column is In good shape.
I have the 4 tires, wagon wheel rims that came with the car. Definitely not what you want, but beats buying crap ones to roll around on.
I have the following parts:
Brake pedal assembly, gas pedal assembly, parking brake assembly. Old gas tank straps, new gas tank rubber grommet for where it goes through body. NO GAS TANK! New UBolts, a new brake line for rear axle (Just one), transmission Mount, parking lights for front bumper, a front and rear bumper which I was going to fix up and sandblast, paint and install. They aren’t perfect but when painting black, it’s nice to have them. The post coupe interior rear window trim is included and painted body color, numerous packages of bolts, screws, gaskets, body plugs, pieces that you won’t have to source. Almost all is new from Maurice at Partsmix. Awesome place to shop online from Mopar people. A new washer fluid tank, pump and Beep Beep Reproduction horn included.

Brake master cylinder
Some wiring harness sections
Windshield wiper motor
Spare tire, jack
Driveshaft
Exhaust piping but I do have cast iron manifolds
Gas tank (buy a new one) avoid brain damage
Brake line kits
Headliner fabric
Seat belts
Seat tracks for front buckets
Fiberboard glove box liner
All of the running / park light reflectors
Feel free to ask any questions, I have so many pictures but you can see what your getting. The paint is base coat clear coat, polished and beautiful. Has depth and it’s a car you will have to fill up at midnight because you will get asked a million questions. The paint job alone was over 20k and took 6 months of the same person working on it 40 hours a week. It was a lot of work, hours and detail.
Ok, so the reason for selling…….
This car was something my Dad and I were doing together. He passed away suddenly and from the time of not feeling good til passing, was 5 days. Working on this was a lot of good times but it’s just not the same. So whomever you are, you can take over and finish a project that really has been done right and just needs a new home. Comes with a bill of sale and a NYS registration document that is transferable. No titles on old cars in NY. Go figure. I can only say the RESERVE PRICE is less than what you think. I reserve the right to end the auction early and without notice since I am going to email several clubs and people who I crusie with. All I can say is thanks for reading all of this.
