Description

W.H.Grindley & Co., New Field Pottery (1880-1891), Woodland Pottery (1891-), Tunstall, Staffordshire Potteries. Firm was acquired by Alfred Clough Ltd. in 1960.
The mark on these flow blue plates is
circa 1891 -1914
and the pattern is "Portman". A beautiful pattern of scrolls and florals on a scalloped blank and no trim. The plates measures approximately 9" wide.
Condition:  There are no cracks, chips, nicks or repairs; a few minor utensil marks due to use. The back of the plates all have a brownish bubble mark next to the marks. I feel that these are original but not 100% sure. One plate has tiny discoloration on front. I tried to capture in picture.
The mark is "Portman - Trade Mark - W.H.Grindley & Co. - England". They are all stamped with the number 43 on the back.
