Dense Basalt stone. From the 2nd half 20th century - Good condition, used with some signs of wear.
The Marquesas Islands, monumental tiki ke’a carved in basalt “were incorporated into the massive stone platforms of me’ae (sacred ritual sites) or the houses of high-ranking individuals.” Some stood more than eight feet high. They represented etua, ancestors. Much smaller tiki were also carved, at 4 to 8 inches, in stone, bone, or wood.
