Description
Ifugao Warrior Helmet (Oklop) Carved From One Piece Of Wood Antique Unknown Age.This bowl-shaped helmet (oklop) is made from a single piece of wood. As well as headwear, it would have also served as a vessel for food and drink when hunting, travelling and working. The protruding ears allowed a string to pass through the holes and secure the helmet to the wearer’s head. Although other groups from northern Luzon wear similar wooden helmets, only the Ifugao people carve facial features onto their oklop.
I am not an expert in artifacts such as this and so can't attest to its age or authenticity, but looks like many I have seen from the Ifugao part of the Filipines from my research.
This helmet(oklop) is in great condition with ne chips or cracks.
