Condition: The lantern is in good condition, there is a dent after the railroad letters, there is rust in the bottom well where the pot sits, there are signs of wear and minor rust on the bell and the lid, and there is a lot of soot from usage. There is a small gap approx. 1/8" on one side where the bell is attached to the frame (does not detract) and there is a slight bow in the bell (hard to detect, and does not detract). The lantern sits fairly flat but has a slight rock caused by the bow in the bell The frame is relatively straight. There are no manufactures marks or patent numbers on the frame. The globe is in very good condition, some air bubbles and a few small chips at the top (will not show when the globe is in the frame). There are no cracks in the globe. The pot is in good condition no holes but rust on the bottom and the lower sides.

Offered today is a bell bottom lantern from the Santa Fe Railroad with a tall etched SP Co Globe. The lantern is marked on the top of the bell "A.T.& S. F. RY". There are no man'f markings on the lantern. The Globe is approx. 5 1/2" tall, 2 1/2" wide on the top, and 3 1/4" wide at the bottom. The globe has the CNX logo and the words "Made In U.S.A.", and is etched "S.P. Co". The lantern is complete with pot but no wick.
