VANUATU ANCESTOR EFFIGY DANCE STAFF

Description

Description: Dance staff with head composed of fiber, bark, and tree-fern wood with prominent projecting eyes, and equally projecting nose, with boars tusks extending from sides of mouth. The face covered with red and black pigment. Wood staff through center. Some light loss of fiber covering and pigment. Heads provided an abode for the spirits, in the complex grade society ceremony.
