    VINTAGE FIGIAN FIGI TRIBAL TAVATAVA
    WOOD ULA THROWING (WAR) CLUB!
COMPLETELY HAND CARVED, MID 20TH CENTURY!
    HAS LOOSE FITTING WOVEN HANDLE.
THIS EXAMPLE HAS A HEAD MADE OF CARVED RADIAL
TAVATAVA WOOD RIDGES AND A SLIM HANDLE. THE
RIDGES ARE NOT IN A SINGLE ROW, BUT ARRANGED
AS 3 LINES WITH THE MIDDLE ONES BEING THE LARGEST.
THE NAME ULA COMES FROM THE BUTTRESS ROOT OF
THE IRON WOOD TREE. THE ULA WERE WORN BY WARRIORS
IN THEIR WAISTBANDS AND THEN THROWN, WITH
GREAT PRECISION, AT THE SKULLS OF THEIR ASSAILANTS.
THE HANDLE IS COVERED BY A WOVEN RATTAN? "SHEATH",
POSSIBLY SHOWING THAT THIS ULA IS MORE OF A
    CEREMONIAL TYPE ULA.
THERE ARE SOME CUTS AND DINGS IN THE HEAD OF THE ULA,
POSSIBLY ACTUALLY USED AS A WEAPON AT SOME TIME, BUT
HAS SINCE BEEN WRAPPED WITH THE WOVEN COVER. I CANNOT
SEE IF THERE ARE ANY NOTCHES IN HANDLE FOR 'KILLS'
BECAUSE THE WOVEN "SHEATH" ON HANDLE WILL NOT COME
    OFF.
    MEASURES 15 1/4" LONG x 4" HEAD/4 1/2" HEAD(DEPENDING ON
HOW IT'S SITTING), 1" WIDE HANDLE IN MIDDLE, 1 1/2"
    HANDLE AT END.
FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING, INCLUDES WRAPPING, INSURANCE
POSSIBLY, WILL NEED A SIGNATURE TO MAKE SURE THIS ARRIVES.
